Broadcast Audience Survey 2006 - 2007

Internet Availability, Accessibility and Usage

The following charts specify how, where and why internet is being used in the country. Though the figures for internet availability are less than 20% in Nepal, this is quite significant considering the inadequate infrastructure of the communication system and the economic status of the people. Internet is found to be mostly accessed from the cyber café with highest usage for email, followed by chatting. The community centers refers to the numerous internet access points run by INGOs, NGOs, government bodies, local communities as well tele-centers supported and run by government and nongovernmental organizations.
