7.1. Preferred sources of information and entertainment

The following figures represent the responses by the respondents of Broadcast Audience Survey (2006 - 2007) when were asked about their media preference amongst the different types of media they had access to (charts below). The survey data provides a comparative figure between radio, television, print media and the internet. Here a strong divergence between urban and rural audiences was clear – urban respondents indicated a preference for TV while rural respondents indicated a 2 to 1 preference for radio.

Looking at the preferred sources of media on the region basis, television and radio stand with the highest figures of more than 80%. Both the newspapers and magazines stands out high in the Central region while least in the Far-Western region.  The figures for print media in the Western region are lower than Mid and Far-Western region which was not expected considering its literacy status among the regions of the country.
